A 19th century Swiss gold and enamel oval snuff box, for the Turkish market, having wavy bezel, the top, sides and base decorated with panels of flowers, within gilt heightened borders of ribbons and foliage, on blue and pink grounds, apparently unmarked, 8.5cm wide, in original leather case.
Some large losses of enamel to sides, mostly to the floral spray panels and blue ground, which require repair. Some further smaller losses of enamel to top, sides and base, mostly to border decoration, and areas of crazing. Scuffs, scratches and nicks/chips to the remaining enamel surface and to the mount, commensurate for use. Two shallow linear dents/impressions and scattered shallow pinpoint dents/impressions to base, visible to interior. The hinge is functioning but there is some slight gapping when the cover is closed to the base. Gold standard is untested. Dimensions approx. 8.5cm x 6.05cm x 2.2cm depth. Gross weight approx. 140gm.
