A mahogany writing box Lord Nelson and Captain Cuthbert Interest

The box opening to reveal a leather inset with a gilt foliate border, two brass-topped glass inkwells, the fitted side drawer held in with a brass pin, said to once have been the possession of Lord Nelson, it was given by Nelson to Captain Cuthbert. Two letters pasted into the interior explain how it was given to Cuthbert and subsequently been passed down by descent through the Slingsby family
