A GROUP OF JAPANESE AND ENGLISH IMPERIAL ORDERS, medals and miniatures, awarded to Austin William Medley OBE (1875-1940) - After an invitation from Lord Grey he moved to Japan in 1906 and taught at The Tokyo School for Foreign Languages. Amongst his students were three Japanese princes. He wrote books and a dictionary and became fluent in Japanese. A member of the Japan Society, Vice President 1932; Tokyo club; Hon Member British Legion Tokyo.
