A carnelian intaglio ring, the possibly Sasanian intaglio depicting a figure on horseback, to a later yellow precious metal mount, intaglio dimensions approximately 1.85cm length x 1.35cm width, ring size N½

The intaglio has variation in colour, ranging from brownish-red to areas of dark brown, and has abrasion, with chips, scuffs, scratches and nicks throughout, commensurate for regular use. The incised decoration is still relatively crisp, with patchy wear. The mount has general wear, with scuffs, scratches and nicks/chips throughout, and has solder joins at the junctions of the setting to the shoulders, within the setting and to the shank, possibly due to repair or replacement of the shank and later re-sizing. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 5.2gm.
