A 19th century diamond and gem set cluster dress ring, the cluster of vari-cut green gemstones and cushion-shaped old-cut diamonds in pinched collet and foiled closed-back settings, to an engraved hoop, gold and silver mounted, total diamond weight approximately 0.18ct, ring size N½
The green gemstones are too small to test and have deep hues that are enhanced by the foil backing. The green stones have abrasion, scuffs and chips/fractures, and one of the outer stones has larger conchoidal chips. Diamonds are well matched and lively, all with yellowish/brownish tints, possibly due to discolouration of the foil backing. Some of the diamonds have chips/surface-reaching fractures. The mount has considerable wear and tarnishing, with patchy thinning and splits to the edges of the settings, commensurate for age and use. The back of the shank has worn a little thin and has several re-sizing joins. Metal standards are untested. Diameter of central cluster setting approximately 0.9cm. Gross weight approximately 2gm.
