A vari gem-set and enamel cross pendant, accented with variously shaped cabochon and faceted gemstones and coloured stones in foiled closed-back settings, with baroque pearl highlights, green enamel verso, suspended from a double-headed bird surmount with blue and green enamel traces, (pearls untested for origin), length 7cm
The mount appears to be filled with a pitch-like substance and is untested as gold/gilt metal. Areas of the pitch filling are visible in places, where the mount is worn or has been filed. Large areas of enamel loss to reverse of cross and to bird surmount, with chips and scuffs to remaining enamel. Considerable wear throughout, with scuffs, chips and scratches to stones and mount. Fractures, scuffs and chips to pearls, each pearl having an irregular outline. Age and origin unknown. Gross weight approx. 18.3gm.
