An early 20th century pink topaz and aquamarine fringe necklace, the graduated fringe of alternating circular and oval mixed-cut pink topazes and aquamarines in claw settings, suspended from a plaited-link chain with hook wire clasp, gold mounted, in fitted Spink & Son retailer's case, length 37cm
The pink topazes and aquamarines are mostly well matched, of pale pink and pale greenish-blue hues respectively, all with good transparency. Some stones contain fracture, fissure and mineral inclusions that are just visible to the unaided eye and all stones have surface wear, some stones with chips and fractures. The oval stones graduate from approx. 8.5mm length x 4.2mm width to 4.5mm length x 3.2mm width each and the round stones graduate from approx. 4mm to 3mm diameter each. The settings and chain have general surface wear throughout. Some of the settings have worn claws that may require attention/re-tipping. Sections of the fringe and chain have dark discolouration/firestaining and there are occasional dark solder joins/repairs. Gold standard is untested. The fringe drops graduate from approx. 2.1cm to 1.6cm in length. Width of fringe section approx. 17cm. Gross weight approx. 11.5gm. The retailer's case is worn.
