A 19th century amethyst and half pearl cluster brooch, the oval mixed-cut amethyst collet set within a row of half pearls, edged with ropetwist wirework borders, gold mounted, (half pearls untested for origin), length 3.85cm
Amethyst has faint feather inclusions and good transparency, with surface scuffs and occasional nicks/small chips, measuring approximately 25.5mm length x 20mm width x 10.6mm depth. Half pearls are well matched with occasional chips/fractures and surface wear, some with patchy grease residue. The mount has a small area of possible solder repair to the rim, near to the clasp, with otherwise surface wear, scuffs and nicks throughout. The pin is functioning. Patchy tarnishing to mount at half pearl border. Vacant apertures to back suggest possible prior use of another fitting. Metal standard is untested. Gross weight approximately 21.6gm.
