A rare salt-glazed stoneware chemist jar inscribed 'Turtle' from Fisks, 144 High Street Southampton. (Fisks was a chemist shop in Southampton in the 19th century. Leatherback turtle fat and blood were used for medicinal purposes.) London c1800-1840. 15cm diameter x 16cm high; together with a John Dwight of Fulham salt-glazed pottery jar, c1780, 24cm high. (2)

Turtle - has a good ding and no cracks. Circa 1cm indent, to include glaze loss. This to cream coloured section. Natural firing dots.
Salt-glazed pottery - hairline crack from base upwards circa 4cm. A few natural firing dots, marks, spots, specks, indents.
