Incunable fragment (Nuremberg Chronicle). Hand-coloured woodcut image of Bias of Priene, one of the Seven Sages of Greece (75 x 60 mm). See fol. 59v of Schedel, Hartmann, trans. Georg Alt Liber chronicarum [German] Das Buch der Croniken und Geschichten. Nuremberg, Anton Koberger, for Sebald Schreyer and Sebastian Kammermeister, 23 December 1493 (ISTC is00309000). We note that a different woodcut is used for Bias of Priene in the Latin version of the Liber chronicarum printed earlier in the same year. Mounted on pale yellow/cream card (190 x 90 mm). A retirement gift to Mr J. P. Love, signed on the reverse by 13 colleagues.
