The Military Cross and other medals of Lieutenant Philip Reginald Astley of 12th Royal Lancers, comprising; the Military Cross, inscribed to the back Lt. P.R.Astley 12th Lancers 23rd March 1918, the 1914-15 Star, the 1914-18 War Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the 1939-45 Africa Star, the Italy Star, the 1939-45 Defence Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal (bronze oak leaf for mentioned in dispatches), the American Legion of Merit (officer), all mounted, together with the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and a full dress set of medals, framed, a further loose 1939-45 Defence Medal and the 1939-45 France and Germany Star, a set of letters written by Astley from the front, mostly to his mother Lady Sutton, dated 1915-18 and a photograph album containing images of the Astley family and friends dating from late 19th century to mid-20th century
