A Gillett & Johnston eight-day quarter-chiming regulator longcase clock
The 18th century style oak case of simple form with barley twist pilasters to the hood and lenticle to the door. The brass dial with a silver chapter ring, subsidiary second hand and silent/chime lever. The two train movement with deadbeat escapement and maintaining power, striking the hours and quarter hours on five gongs. The pendulum with invar rod and cast lozenge-shaped pendulum bob typical of the maker. The gong mount cast 'G & J'.
