Estimated at £1,500 - £2,000
A Charles I silver counter box, pierced and engraved with a bust of Charles I to the lid, and Henrietta Maria to the base in the manner of Simon and Willem de Passe, the sides pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage, unmarked, containing twenty eight silver counters, die struck with the portraits of various monarchs, 3cm wide.
There is a hole below the bust of Charles within one of the scrolls on the box. The base/opposing side (of Henrietta) has been pushed in, with damage to the fretwork. There are several gaps/breaks to the fretwork to the sides of the box, with a fair amount of wear to the engraving overall. The counters are fairly rubbed/worn and quite thin, two or three with noticeable losses to the edges.
