signed 'ED' and 'Lachenal'

Information:
Emile Decoeur was apprenticed to the great French ceramicist, Edmond Lachenal (1855-1948) at the end of the 19th century, initially assisting Lachenal in his work. However, from 1900 until 1903 he was allowed to design and execute his own work independently from Lachenal. This is a rare example of his work from that period, marked with his ED monogram but also carrying the mark of Lachenal. In 1903 Decoeur left Lachenal's workshop to set up his own studio.
